Author Guidelines

These author guidelines help you prepare a research manuscript for the Interdisciplinary Journal of Excellence and Innovation (IJEI). Read them alongside the submission preparation checklist before beginning an online submission. IJEI has a multidisciplinary scope, and each manuscript is assessed for its suitability and quality.

1. Check the journal’s scope

Identify the main research question, subject area and contribution of your paper. If it draws on several disciplines, explain how their approaches connect and why the combination is useful. A broad topic alone does not establish suitability. Send a short abstract and scope enquiry to support@ijei.org if you are unsure whether your work fits. Consult the research areas guidance for examples of how to describe a manuscript.

2. Prepare the title, abstract and keywords

Choose a concise title that reflects the actual research. An abstract should explain the purpose of the work, the approach used and its principal findings or argument. It should be understandable on its own and should not make claims that are absent from the manuscript. Select keywords that accurately describe the subject, methods or context. Avoid repeating broad terms simply to attract attention.

3. Organise the manuscript clearly

A useful structure for many research papers includes an introduction, relevant literature, methods or analytical approach, results, discussion and conclusion. Adapt the organisation to the nature of the study and the conventions of your field. Define specialist terms, explain the reasoning between sections and distinguish your findings from your interpretation of them.

The introduction should establish the problem and contribution. The methods or approach should give readers enough information to understand how the work was conducted. The discussion should connect the findings to the question, address limitations and avoid generalisations that the evidence cannot support.

4. Check references, tables and figures

Use a consistent citation style appropriate to your discipline and ensure that each cited source has a complete reference entry. Check names, dates, titles and source details. Number and label all tables and figures, refer to them in the text and explain abbreviations. Make sure visual material is legible and that any data shown agree with the manuscript. Ask the journal office if you need clarification about a specific formatting requirement.

5. Confirm authorship, originality and permissions

All named authors must consent to being identified as authors and agree to the submission. The journal’s checklist requires that the work has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal. Obtain permission for third-party photographs, documents, datasets and other material where necessary. Where appropriate, research should have the relevant ethics approval under the requirements applicable to the study.

Provide complete contributor details and identify the corresponding author accurately. Explain relevant circumstances to the editor rather than leaving an ambiguity in the submission. Do not include identifiable confidential research material unless its inclusion is appropriate and authorised.

6. Submit through the online system

Use the submission link on this page. Upload the manuscript and supporting files requested, add contributor information and complete the title, abstract and other metadata. Check that the uploaded file is the intended version. Review all information before completing the submission and retain the submission ID for later correspondence.

7. Understand assessment and review

An editor assesses whether the submission fits the journal and meets minimum quality standards. Suitable manuscripts are sent for peer review before an acceptance or rejection decision. An editor may decline work that does not meet these standards at the initial assessment stage. The stated review timeline is 3 working days; this is not a guarantee of acceptance or a fixed publication date.

If revisions are requested, respond to each comment and identify the corresponding changes. Explain disagreements respectfully and support your response with evidence. Read the review process for further guidance.

8. Publication fee and author support

The confirmed publication fee is INR 2,000. Obtain payment instructions and any necessary clarification directly from the journal office. Read the publication fee information before making arrangements. For submission assistance, email support@ijei.org or call +91 70033 56833, quoting your manuscript title and submission ID where available. The author FAQs answer common questions about the journal.
